Roro Jongrang.
50 x 70 cm, Acrylic on canvas.

Taken from a folk story about Roro Jongrang. She was asked to mary with a very powerful man. As a way to refuse, she asked that one thousand temples should be created before morning came. He ordered hundreds of his fellow devils to worked all the night, and it seems that the job would be fulfilled just on time. Roro Jongrang asked for help to farmers, to make noise by pounding padi rice. This made the chicken crowing as a sign of morning had come.
Because of her tricky manuvre, he cursed she to become a stone statue.
